Christie Solutions Deliver Spectacular Visuals as Singapore Counts Down to the New Year

Christie® technologies delivered spectacular visuals during a projection mapping performance that enthralled massive crowds that turned up at Singapore’s Marina Bay area on December 31 to ring in the New Year and officially kick-off celebrations to commemorate Singapore’s 50th year of independence.

The stunning spectacle was made possible by Christie’s rental staging partner Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd, which deployed almost 60 Christie Roadster HD20K-J 3-chip DLP® projectors for a projection mapping show where a slew of images and multimedia content depicting the growth and development of Singapore from past to present were projected onto the enormous façade of the famous Fullerton Hotel and the iconic Merlion statue. This is the largest number of Christie projectors ever deployed for an event staged in Singapore to date.

The eight-hour extravaganza, known as “The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2015”, was the most anticipated countdown party to usher in the nation’s year-long golden jubilee celebrations. Besides the mesmerizing projection mapping performance, it also showcased outdoor concerts featuring a star-studded ensemble of local and regional artistes, as well as carnivals and waterfront bazaars. Among the other highlights were a magnificent musical firework display, and a floating installation of 25,000 wishing spheres that reflected Singapore’s journey in the last 50 years and its citizens’ hopes for the future.

“Our heartiest congratulations to our partner Hexogon Solution for being selected as the projection provider of this momentous event and setting up the largest number of Christie Roadster Series projectors ever for an event held in Singapore,” said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “This is a wonderful achievement and we’re absolutely thrilled that Christie’s visual solutions have been used to deliver a fantastic performance for everyone who attended this large-scale event, and helped create high quality, innovative, shared experiences that our customers love.”

Fifty-three units of Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors were used for the projection mapping in front of the Fullerton Hotel, while six Roadster HD20K-Js were deployed for mapping the 8.6-meter-tall Merlion statue located near the Neoclassical-styled hotel. Both projection sites were synchronized for the show, with corresponding contents working hand-in-hand with the Marina Bay countdown lightings and fireworks. It commenced at 11:55 p.m. sharp and culminated in a countdown sequence to midnight, followed immediately by an eight-minute firework display to the delight of revelers.

Adrian Goh, managing director, Hexogon Solution, commented, “We are excited to present this projection mapping performance using the world famous Merlion statue and façade of the Fullerton Hotel as the canvas for this highly-anticipated event. Due to the scale of this performance, it is necessary for us to set up almost 60 Christie Roadster projectors to cover the entire area.”

However, the team from Hexogon Solution also had to overcome a number of challenges to get the visuals right. Goh noted that while the Fullerton Hotel – an old colonial building with very complex architectural features – was good for architectural mapping and transformation effects, the multiple depths of the building had resulted in distortion of images to be showcased.

“That was why we had to run simulations and tests to ensure that we can achieve the best possible results. I’m happy to note that through meticulous image adjustments and alignments, we have managed to deliver a vibrant and engaging show that made the ‘Celebrate SG50’ a very memorable and enjoyable one for all Singaporeans. Of course, the reliability and quality of the Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors also played a role in making this a success,” he added.

Christie Roadster Series projectors provide unbelievably bright images with stunning detail and depth of color, releasing pure power with purpose-built features. Designed with built-in handles, an improved airflow system and multiple rigging points, these powerhouse projectors stack up against the rigors and stress of rental/staging. Featuring high-quality optics, 10-bit image processing and a variable contrast ratio of 1600–2000:1 for brilliantly crisp, detailed images, these compact projectors deliver crisp, clean images with perfect color saturation and spectacular video.

Hexogon Solution Expands Projector Fleet with World’s Largest Purchase of Christie Boxer 4K30 Projectors

Singapore (PRWEB) February 27, 2015

Hexogon Solution, a Christie® partner based in Singapore, has set itself apart from the competition by adding 80 units of the groundbreaking Christie Boxer 4K30 and 15 units of the highly-rugged Christie Roadie 4K45 3DLP projectors to its impressive fleet of Christie projectors to further boost its rental staging capabilities.

This acquisition of 80 Christie Boxer 4K30s, the largest-ever single purchase in the world to date by a rental staging company, is poised to raise Hexogon Solution’s profile as one of the most advanced Christie rental partners in Southeast Asia. The newly-purchased Boxers and Roadie 4K45s will be used for the company’s various large scale outdoor events scheduled to take place in Singapore and the region.

As well, Hexogon Solution also invested in the award-winning Pandoras Box product family from coolux, which was acquired by Christie in January 2015, to deliver impactful 3D visualization and compositing solutions through the Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors. Hexogon Solution’s purchase of the Pandoras Box media system is the largest ever for coolux products in Southeast Asia. The Boxer 4K30-Pandoras Box combo enables the rental staging firm to create both continuous and non-continuous digital canvases, and manage the content that flows onto these canvases.

“We are thrilled to be the first rental staging company in Asia to be equipped with Christie’s latest and most advanced visual solutions that will provide us with the competitive edge,” said Adrian Goh, managing director, Hexogon Solution. “With our acquisition of the Christie Boxer 4K30, Christie Roadie 4K45 and Pandoras Box media system, we’ll be capable of delivering even more exciting projection mapping contents and effects for our clients in the region. As a longtime user of Christie products, I’m confident that these new and innovative visual solutions will continue to offer the high performance and reliability that we can depend on.”

Ken Wheatley, director of sales, Christie Asia Pacific, commented, “We are proud to support Hexogon Solution’s investment in all of Christie’s products, most notably the Christie Boxer 4K30 and Roadie 4K45 family – two of our newest projectors with a high lumen level and high resolution – which fully meet the company’s need to bring a myriad of visuals to life.”

Lin Yu, vice-president, Christie Asia Pacific, added, “We’re proud to have an experienced rental staging partner like Hexogon Solution on our side for years, and acquiring our latest and cutting-edge solutions with confidence. With its years of expertise in staging outdoor events, we look forward to seeing the projectors and Pandoras Box media systems deliver fascinating visuals that create memorable shared experiences.”

Hexogon Solution has used Christie’s visual solutions in a number of prominent large-scale events in Singapore, such as the National Day Parade at the Marina Bay Floating Platform over the past three years where it provided projection mapping and multimedia contents for the main performances using the Christie Roadster HD20K-J 3DLP projectors. It was also responsible for delivering a stunning projection mapping show on the façade of the famous Fullerton Hotel and the iconic Merlion Statue during the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2015 event on 31 December 2014. The extravaganza, which officially kicked off celebrations to commemorate Singapore’s golden jubilee, set a new record for the largest number of Christie projectors ever deployed for an event staged in Singapore to date.

Weighing in at less than 150lbs (68kg), Christie Boxer 4K30 is a 30,000 lumen, high-resolution, projector designed for high impact live events. Boasting 4K (4096 by 2160) native resolution and 3DLP® quality, and built-in Christie TruLife™ image processing to provide the highest bit depth and fastest frame rate, the Boxer is easy to use and offers optimum feed and performance flexibility.

The Christie Roadie 4K45, introduced in November last year, is the brightest lamp-illuminated projector on the market. Rugged, reliable, and road tested, the 45,000 lumen Christie 4K45 offers a higher level of image brightness for rental stagers to use in concerts, sports events, themed entertainment, conventions, live events, annual meetings, casinos, and more. Similar to the Boxer 4K30, it features Christie TruLife for the clearest, most true-to-life image quality.
